Shipping policy

At A&S Welding, we ship Australia-wide and also offer local pickup from our Smithfield store. Shipping options and costs are shown at checkout where available.

Some products are stocked at our Smithfield store, while others may need to be ordered in, transferred from a supplier, or specially sourced. Product availability is shown on the product page as:

  • In-stock – stocked items, with available quantity shown where applicable;
  • Available to order – items not currently stocked at our store but available to order from a supplier; or
  • Special Order – specially sourced items that are ordered specifically for the customer.

If there are any stock, dispatch or lead-time issues with your order, we will contact you.

Order Processing and Payment Authorisation

Orders are usually processed within 1 to 3 business days, excluding weekends and public holidays, where the item is in stock and ready to dispatch.

For items that are Available to order or Special Order, dispatch times may vary depending on supplier availability, transfer times and product lead times.

When you place an order, payment may initially be authorised rather than captured. We will capture payment once we confirm the order can be fulfilled, stock is available, or the expected lead time has been confirmed.

If there is a significant delay, stock issue or supply issue, we will contact you before proceeding where required.

Shipping Options

Shipping options shown at checkout may include Australia Post, courier delivery, or other freight services depending on the item, destination, size, weight and delivery address.

Available services and pricing are calculated at checkout where possible. Delivery times vary depending on the carrier, service selected, destination, stock location, item size and item weight.

Delivery estimates are estimates only and are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed by us in writing.

Australia Post Deliveries

Australia Post services may be available at checkout for eligible items.

If you would like to estimate delivery time before ordering, you can check Australia Post delivery estimates using the sender postcode 2164 and your delivery postcode.

Australia Post deliveries are generally sent with Authority to Leave unless you contact us to request signature on delivery before dispatch.

If you require signature on delivery, please contact us before placing your order or as soon as possible after ordering. Additional charges may apply depending on the service.

Courier Deliveries

Courier delivery may be available at checkout for eligible items. Depending on the order, checkout may show courier options such as:

  • Courier Delivery to Your Home; or
  • Courier Delivery to Your Business.

Please select the correct delivery type.

Do not select a business courier service for a residential/home address. If a business service is incorrectly selected for a residential address, we may contact you to request payment of the difference before shipping.

Business courier services are mainly intended for commercial premises and may assume suitable unloading access, such as a forklift or loading area, especially for large or heavy goods.

Large, Heavy or Bulky Items

Large, heavy, bulky, dangerous goods, long items or unusually shaped items may require special freight handling.

For business deliveries, we may assume the delivery address has suitable unloading equipment, such as a forklift, unless you advise us otherwise.

If you require a tailgate delivery, hand unload, residential delivery, or special delivery arrangement, please contact us before placing your order or as soon as possible after ordering. Additional freight charges may apply.

If the incorrect freight option is selected at checkout, we may contact you to request payment of the difference before dispatch.

If a large or heavy delivery cannot be safely left and no one is available to receive it, redelivery fees may apply.

Authority to Leave

Australia Post and courier deliveries are generally sent with Authority to Leave unless you contact us to request signature or another arrangement before dispatch.

Authority to Leave means the carrier may leave the parcel at the delivery address if they consider there is a safe place to do so.

Please ensure your delivery address is secure and suitable for parcel delivery. If there is no safe place to leave the parcel, or if the parcel is too large, heavy or unsuitable to be left unattended, the carrier may attempt redelivery, take it to a collection point, or charge a redelivery fee.

PO Boxes and Parcel Lockers

If your delivery address is a PO Box or Parcel Locker, you must select an Australia Post service at checkout.

Courier services cannot deliver to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers. If a courier service is selected for a PO Box or Parcel Locker address, we may contact you to change the shipping method or request any price difference before dispatch.

Local Pickup

Free local pickup is available from our store:

Pickup hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm
  • Saturday: 9:00am to 12:00pm

Please allow up to 24 hours for pickup orders to be prepared.

Do not come to collect your order until you receive a Ready for Pickup notification. If you need the order urgently, you are welcome to contact us to enquire whether it can be prepared sooner.

Please bring your order confirmation email or proof of purchase when collecting your order.

Tracking Your Order

Once your order has shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information.

Please monitor your tracking and ensure someone is available to receive the delivery where required.

Tracking updates may take up to 48 hours to appear after dispatch, depending on the carrier.

If your tracking has not updated, your order appears delayed, or your order has not arrived within a reasonable time after dispatch, please contact us at office@aandswelding.com.au with your order number so we can investigate.

Delivery Issues, Incorrect Addresses and Redelivery

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

Additional charges may apply for redelivery, address correction, return-to-sender, re-dispatch or storage fees where caused by:

  • an incorrect or incomplete address;
  • selecting the wrong delivery type;
  • no one being available to receive a delivery where required;
  • no safe place being available for Authority to Leave;
  • refusal of delivery; or
  • failure to collect from a post office, depot or collection point.

If an order is returned to us by the carrier, we will contact you to arrange re-delivery or collection. Additional freight charges may apply.

Damaged, Missing or Incorrect Deliveries

Please inspect your order when it arrives.

If your order arrives damaged, incomplete, incorrect, or with signs of freight damage, please contact us as soon as possible at office@aandswelding.com.au.

Please include:

  • your order number;
  • a description of the issue;
  • photos of the item;
  • photos of the packaging;
  • photos of the shipping label; and
  • any relevant tracking or delivery information.

Please keep the item and packaging until we advise the next steps, as the carrier or supplier may require inspection.

We will review the issue and guide you through the next steps. Depending on the situation, this may involve replacement, repair, refund, return shipping instructions, warranty assessment, freight investigation or another remedy available under Australian Consumer Law.

Dangerous Goods and Restricted Items

Some items may be restricted, limited or unavailable for certain shipping methods due to size, weight, safety, dangerous goods or carrier restrictions.

This may include items such as gases, gas cylinders, aerosols, chemicals, flammable products, bulky equipment, heavy machinery or other restricted goods.

If an item cannot be shipped using the selected method, we will contact you to discuss available options.

International Shipping

International shipping may be available at checkout for eligible items.

Some items may be too large, heavy, restricted or unsuitable for international shipping through checkout. If no international shipping option is available for your order, please contact us for assistance or a manual freight quote where possible.

International customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties, taxes, import charges, clearance fees or local delivery charges charged by the destination country or carrier.

Delivery times for international orders vary depending on destination, customs processing, carrier delays and local delivery networks.

Special Order Items

Items marked as Special Order are specially sourced and ordered specifically for the customer.

Special Order items are not eligible for 90-day change-of-mind returns. This does not exclude or limit any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law, warranty or consumer guarantees.

If there is an issue with a Special Order item, please contact us and we will guide you through the correct process.

Returns, Refunds and Exchanges

Original shipping costs are not refundable for change-of-mind returns.

Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility for change-of-mind returns and may be deducted from the refund where we provide the return shipping label.
